BYU football brothers Bear and Tiger Bachmeier stepped onto a stage in American Fork last week, marking their debut as the musical duo known as Music Bachs. The performance took place at the Harrington Center for the Arts, a venue that usually hosts theater productions but was transformed for the occasion.
The concert was part of the city’s ‘American Fork Concerts in the Park’ summer series, a Monday night tradition that draws families and locals looking for a casual evening of entertainment. The brothers, who have been teammates on the Cougars’ offense, swapped helmets for microphones, delivering a set that blended country classics with rock anthems.
When the Coach Takes the Mic
Coach Kalani Sitake, who has long encouraged his players to explore interests beyond the field, was in the crowd to cheer on his charges. His presence added a layer of camaraderie, and after the final chord he joined Bear, Tiger, and their uncle Don on stage, turning the finale into a spontaneous family jam.
Their setlist featured familiar tunes such as ‘Wagon Wheel’, ‘Country Roads’, and ‘Leavin’ on a Jet Plane’, culminating in a spirited rendition of the BYU fight song ‘Rise & Shout’. The familiar melodies resonated with an audience that included fellow students, alumni, and a few recognizable faces from the university’s athletic community.
The Bachmeier family’s musical roots run deep; prior to their college careers, Bear and Tiger regularly performed at a senior‑citizen home in Provo alongside Don, sharing songs that spanned generations. That experience helped hone their stage confidence and fostered a sense of community service that now extends to a public concert setting.
Several of the brothers’ BYU teammates also took part in the performance, lending vocals and instrumentation that turned the event into a true team‑building experience. The blend of athletic camaraderie and musical collaboration highlighted a unique dimension of college life that often goes unnoticed.
