A Season of Promise
The Bear Lake baseball team saw its campaign draw to a close in the Regional 53 semifinal, falling 5-1 to Maple City Glen Lake on Tuesday. The Lakers entered the game with a 16-11 record and a fourth district championship in five years, but the early scoring by Glen Lake set a challenging tone.
Glen Lake struck first in the top of the fifth inning, plating two runs before a sixth‑inning error added a third. The Lakers managed to respond with a single run, but the deficit proved insurmountable.
Landyn Kequom ignited a brief rally with a two‑out double that placed a runner in scoring position. Myles Hallead capitalized on the opportunity, delivering an RBI single that scored Kequom and brought Bear Lake within one run.
Grady Harless contributed a hit, while Hallead’s pitching stint of 3 ⅓ innings kept the team competitive, striking out four batters despite allowing three hits. Landyn Kequom followed on the mound, throwing 3 ⅔ innings, surrendering three earned runs on a single hit and recording one strikeout.
The loss concluded a season that highlighted the program’s resurgence, finishing with a 16-11 record and reinforcing the team’s recent district dominance.
