International Exposure and Exhibition Schedule
The University of Cincinnati's men's basketball program is set to embark on a series of international contests in the Bahamas later this year, while also scheduling a slate of exhibition games that will culminate with a much‑anticipated showdown against the Ohio State Buckeyes this fall.
New Faces and Coaching Changes
Adding to the excitement, the Bearcats have secured two impactful transfers: Tyler Tejada, who averaged 17.7 points per game for Towson and over 31 in the CAA tournament, and Adlan Elamin, a 6‑foot‑9 forward who committed to Cincinnati on April 16 after a standout season at Utah State. Both players bring a blend of size, skill, and proven scoring ability that coaches believe will immediately elevate the team's competitiveness.
Joining the staff as defensive coordinator, Assistant Coach Johnny Hill brings a wealth of experience from his playing days at Illinois State, Texas‑Arlington and Purdue, as well as a coaching stint under Jerrod Calhoun at Utah State. Known for his vocal presence in practice, Hill is tasked with shaping a defense that can hold its own against high‑octane opponents.
Physical Development and Roster Depth
The front office has highlighted the physical transformation of Tejada, who arrived at 230 pounds and has since increased his upper‑body strength while trimming body fat, positioning him to better handle the rigors of college basketball. Elamin, meanwhile, is viewed as having NBA potential and is one of three Aggies transfers expected to contribute significantly.
Beyond the new arrivals, the roster features three 6‑foot‑9 players — Tejada, Elamin and Utah State teammate David Iweze — giving the Bearcats a rare combination of height and versatility. Strength and conditioning staff have emphasized muscle development and injury prevention, aiming to keep the squad healthy throughout a demanding schedule.
Looking ahead, the coaching staff is evaluating a possible addition of Utah State transfer MJ Collins, who posted 17.5 points per game last season. If the move materializes, it could further deepen the team's backcourt and provide another scoring option as Cincinnati seeks to climb the Big 12 rankings and make a deep run in both domestic and international competition.
