Reviving a Championship Tradition
Beau Redstone, a decorated alumnus of Cal State Bakersfield, has been appointed the program’s inaugural General Manager, a role designed to fuse his basketball pedigree with a commitment to community and alumni relations.
Redstone, who earned three All-Conference honors and remains among the school’s all-time leaders in points and rebounds, brings more than three decades of experience as a special education teacher, basketball and golf coach, and broadcast analyst for CSUB athletics.
In his new capacity, he will work closely with the men’s basketball staff to expand external relations, coordinate alumni outreach, and deepen ties with the Bakersfield community, aiming to restore the program’s historic championship momentum.
Dr. Sarah Tuohy, the university’s athletic director, praised Redstone’s blend of playing excellence, pedagogical dedication, and media savvy, stating that his leadership will ‘re-energize the program’s connection to its supporters and the broader community.’
Todd Lee, a longtime assistant coach, will collaborate with Redstone on operational initiatives, while the university hopes the appointment will serve as a catalyst for sustained success on and off the court.
The appointment reflects a strategic effort to leverage the university’s rich basketball heritage while forging new pathways for engagement, signaling a shift that could reshape the program’s future trajectory.
