Bemidji State University’s Beaver Football program is celebrating a milestone that few collegiate teams ever reach: a full century of play. To mark the occasion, the university has unveiled the Centennial Team, a curated group of 100 players and coaches whose contributions have shaped the program’s storied history.
A Century of Gridiron Tradition
The program’s early ethos—toughness, pride, perseverance and a commitment to something greater than oneself—has guided every era of Beaver football. Though detailed records from the first decades are sparse, the legacy of those formative years survives in preserved rosters, All‑American selections and the occasional championship mention.
Looking Forward
The Centennial Team was assembled from former athletes and coaching staff who have left an indelible mark on the field. It includes record‑setters, conference champions and leaders whose influence extends beyond statistics, embodying the standards that have defined Beaver football for generations.
While current student‑athletes were not eligible for the centennial honor, their performances continue to enrich the program’s future. Across the campus, Bemidji State sponsors a broader athletic portfolio that includes Division I hockey and Division II teams competing in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, all rooted in the same community spirit that began a hundred years ago.
