Beaverton High School Girls Soccer Faces Major Transition Ahead of 2026 Season

Graduating key seniors while coach Chelsey Evans emphasizes teamwork, inclusivity and growth

A New Era for Beaverton Girls Soccer

The Beaverton High School girls soccer program enjoyed a standout season last year, finishing with 15 victories and a second‑place finish in the Metro League. Their run culminated in a trip to the state semifinals, where they fell to the powerhouse Jesuit squad.

This year, however, the team will confront a major transition. Four first‑team all‑league seniors, including Metro League Player of the Year Lucy Hays, have graduated, leaving a roster that must replace eleven departing seniors with a younger contingent.

Head coach Chelsey Evans says the program’s core values — inclusivity, a strong work ethic, and genuine joy — remain unchanged. She stresses that the team’s identity is built on playing for one another and extracting life lessons from the sport.

The new lineup blends a handful of returning seniors with a wave of fresh talent. Limited practice time has made it difficult for the newcomers to gel, and early chemistry issues are evident as players adjust to new roles and responsibilities.

Leadership will be shouldered by a group of returning seniors such as Oliva Foland, Ava Jone, Lucy Pletsch, Pearl Nielsen‑Pincus, Charlotte Scott, Cherlie Herrera, Kate Parker and Abby Rice, who are expected to guide the younger members through the transition.

Coach Evans encourages the squad to savor the game and focus on teamwork, setting a positive tone that prioritizes connection, resilience and collective growth over mere win‑loss records.

The program is celebrated for its leadership culture; Evans expresses pride in the team’s ability to set a respectful, impactful example both on and off the field, aiming to foster a supportive environment that extends beyond competition.
