Belmont University’s men’s soccer program has once again been honored with the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, marking the fifth straight year the Bruins have received the distinction.
Academic Excellence Recognized
The team posted a 3.62 cumulative GPA for the 2025‑26 academic year, a modest rise from the 3.575 recorded the previous season, underscoring a steady upward trajectory in scholarly performance.
During the fall semester the squad logged a 3.64 GPA, while the spring term saw the Bruins top all Belmont men’s teams with a 3.618 average, a testament to the program’s consistent academic rigor.
Postseason Honors
Seven Bruins earned postseason academic accolades, among them redshirt senior captain Dylan Steely, who was named a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All‑American, and a group of peers — Riley Clothier, Brad Dildy, Jimiyu Mark, Ethan Schlegel, Lucas Wolthers and Oscar Hough — who were selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All‑District squad.
The program’s academic pedigree extends beyond the current season, having amassed 13 Team Academic Awards throughout its history, a milestone that reflects sustained commitment both on and off the pitch.
Season Opener Looms
Belmont will open its regular season on August 20 with a home matchup against Memphis, a game that will also serve as the first test for head coach Ross Duncan as he begins his second tenure with the program.
Looking Forward
With a blend of veteran leadership and fresh talent, the Bruins aim to translate their academic momentum into competitive success, hoping to add another chapter to a tradition that intertwines scholarly achievement with athletic ambition.
