Belmont Revives 'Around the Curb' for a New Era
Belmont University Athletics is bringing back its beloved social‑media series *Around the Curb* for the 2026‑27 academic year, promising a fresh lineup of stories that spotlight the everyday moments of Bruin student‑athletes and reinforce the university’s expanding digital footprint.
The original *Around the Curb* first aired in 2017 under the guidance of Paris Lawson, a 2019 Belmont graduate who has since risen to prominence as a studio host and reporter for the Oklahoma City Thunder. The show earned multiple Sports Video Group College Sports Media Award nominations, cementing its place in collegiate sports storytelling.
This year, veteran broadcast journalist Jill Jelnick, a two‑time Edward R. Murrow Award winner, will take the helm as host. Jelnick, who will also begin a tenure‑track appointment as a professor of media studies at Belmont this fall, brings a distinguished record of award‑winning reporting to the series.
The series opens with Lillie Tabor, a senior standout on the women’s soccer team, whose career has been shaped by competition in the Wisconsin ECNL and earlier appearances in the original run of the program. Her interview offers a glimpse into the athlete’s preparation, academic pursuits, and the broader narrative of Belmont’s growing athletic profile.
Each Tuesday throughout the season, new episodes will be released, continuing the tradition of highlighting achievements on and off the field while reinforcing Belmont’s commitment to media engagement and community connection.
A Strategic Move for Belmont Athletics
The relaunch underscores a strategic push to amplify Belmont Athletics’ digital presence. By partnering with industry recognitions such as the Sports Video Group, the university aims to showcase its programs to a national audience and attract prospective student‑athletes.
With Jelnick’s expertise and Lawson’s continued influence in the background, the series is poised to blend legacy with innovation, setting a benchmark for collegiate athletic storytelling.
