A Promising First Season
The newly opened ice rink in Belmont concluded its first peak season with $270,000 in revenue, underscoring the strong demand for ice time in the community.
Broad Community Engagement
The facility has attracted a diverse roster of users, from the Belmont Women’s Hockey program that welcomes beginners of all ages to the Belmont Youth Hockey Association, which fields more than 20 teams each season, to local schools and the Skating Club of Boston.
Financial Highlights
Revenue streams included $224,730 from tenant payments, $31,105 from Stick and Puck programming, and $7,150 from skate rentals, contributing to a total that exceeded initial projections.
Management Outlook
Rink Manager Erik Harrington noted that roughly 95% of staffed hours were utilized, reflecting near‑full occupancy throughout the season. The town is now exploring non‑ice sports options and has issued a request for proposals to secure advertisers for the scoreboard and to wrap the Zamboni.
