When the final out clicked into place on a crisp spring evening, the scoreboard at Chippewa Hills High School lit up with a number that few coaches ever reach: 400 career wins for baseball coach Ben Wright.
Wright, who has guided the Warriors through dozens of conference battles and district titles, reflects on the milestone not as a personal triumph but as a shared journey.
“I’ve been lucky to work with incredible players, dedicated assistants, and a community that believes in sport as a vehicle for growth,” Wright said in a recent interview. “Every win is a reminder of the talent and effort that surround me.”
His résumé includes championships in both conference and district play, and he has extended his expertise beyond baseball, helming girls golf teams and boys basketball squads with the same competitive spirit.
Hall of Fame Induction
Next month, the coach will be honored at the Mecosta County Sports Hall of Fame, a testament to a career that blends technical skill with a genuine commitment to athlete development.
The induction ceremony will bring together alumni, parents, and local leaders, all eager to celebrate a man who has consistently challenged his athletes to set higher goals and to see their own potential.
