Benjamin Bill, a 2025 National Association of Basketball Coaches All‑American, has embraced the Japanese philosophy of Kaizen—continuous improvement—as he steps onto the Division I hardwood for the first time with the St. Bonaventure Bonnies.
A Kaizen‑Inspired Journey
After a stellar tenure at Daemen University, where he led the Wildcats to an undefeated regular season and captured the East Coast Conference Tournament title, Bill posted averages of 16.8 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game while shooting a program‑record 70.8 percent from the field.
His impact was felt in the NCAA Division II Tournament, where he contributed 23 points in the championship game and followed with a 22‑point, 12‑rebound performance in the second round, helping the squad reach the Elite Eight.
In the subsequent season, Bill continued to excel, averaging 17 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks while leading the conference in field goal percentage at 68.8 percent, and he was honored as the ECC Tournament Most Outstanding Player.
Motivated by Coach Mike MacDonald’s reputation for player development, Bill elected to transfer to St. Bonaventure in the spring of 2024, joining three other student‑athletes who followed their mentor to the Bonnies.
Now a redshirt senior poised for his inaugural Division I campaign, Bill hopes to leverage his leadership and Kaizen mindset to make an immediate impact in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
