A citywide celebration
Berkeley is set to transform its streets and venues into a vibrant tapestry of soccer enthusiasm as the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches, with events scheduled from June 11 through July 19.
The city will offer a lineup of watch parties at locations such as the Gilman District Wine Block, the DoubleTree by Hilton Berkeley Marina, and the Hotel Shattuck Plaza, each paired with food and drink specials and merchandise giveaways that reflect the diverse cultures of the tournament’s participating nations.
Key match viewings
On June 19, the Gilman District Wine Block will screen the USA versus Australia match alongside Brazil versus Haiti, giving fans a chance to cheer for both regional and international teams in a single evening.
A week later, the DoubleTree by Hilton Berkeley Marina will host a doubleheader featuring Japan against Sweden and Türkiye against the United States, providing a backdrop for additional culinary promotions tied to those fixtures.
Beyond the scheduled viewings, Berkeley’s eclectic food scene is being reshaped into team‑centric hubs, where local eateries adopt colors and motifs from competing nations, turning meals into communal celebrations.
To accommodate the influx of visitors, several hotels are offering discounts of up to 25 percent through the month of July, a strategic move aimed at boosting tourism while the tournament unfolds across North America.
While the matches themselves will be staged in venues across Canada, the United States, and Mexico, Berkeley’s role as a cultural waypoint underscores the tournament’s broader reach, linking local festivities with the global spectacle.
