Berkeley senior Henry Rivers, a dual‑sport standout, announced his verbal commitment to the College of Charleston on Wednesday, opting to continue his baseball career with the Cougars.
A Rare Athletic Blend
At Berkeley High School Rivers has served as the starting quarterback for three consecutive seasons, guiding the team through a demanding schedule while also anchoring the varsity baseball roster.
During the 2026 baseball season he posted a .303 batting average, adding two home runs to his résumé, while on the mound he recorded 17 strikeouts in just over ten innings.
His dual role required him to juggle rigorous practice schedules, often switching from the gridiron to the diamond within a single week, a testament to his versatility and work ethic.
Recruiting Coordinator’s Praise
Monte Lee, the Cougars’ recruiting coordinator, took to Twitter to highlight Rivers’ athletic gifts, describing him as “a rare talent who brings both poise under center and a fierce fastball to the mound.”
Lee’s endorsement underscores the excitement within the program as they anticipate integrating a player who can both command the rotation and contribute depth in the lineup.
Rivers will join a Charleston squad that has been building momentum in the Colonial Athletic Association, aiming to contend for a conference title in the upcoming season.
