The fantasy football community is buzzing about the Jacksonville Jaguars' backfield for the 2026 season, centering on running backs Bhayshul Tuten and Chris Rodriguez Jr. With Travis Etienne no longer on the roster, the team must reshape its ground game, and both players are being evaluated for their potential value in drafts and weekly lineups.
Fantasy Outlook for 2026
Tuten entered his rookie year with 384 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, numbers that hinted at a promising skill set. Now, after Etienne’s departure, he is expected to assume the primary ball‑carrier role, giving him a reliable fantasy floor while also offering significant pass‑catching upside in PPR formats, a factor that could boost his ceiling.
Rodriguez arrived in Jacksonville after a 2025 campaign with the Washington Commanders in which he posted 500 rushing yards and six touchdowns, demonstrating efficiency on the ground. He signed a two‑year contract with the Jaguars, but the prospect of sharing carries with Tuten raises questions about his long‑term volume and consistent production.
Throughout the offseason, Tuten’s ADP has climbed steadily, reflecting growing confidence in his ability to thrive in the Jaguars’ offensive scheme, which is projected to favor a lead back with more touches. Meanwhile, Rodriguez’s situation remains more uncertain, as the coaching staff, including Liam Coen, has not clarified how the backfield will be divided.
Analysts conclude that Tuten presents a stronger fantasy case for 2026, combining a higher upside in pass‑catching scenarios with a more favorable offensive environment, while Rodriguez offers reliability but limited ceiling due to potential committee touches.
