Bicknell Receives $10,000 Grant to Revamp Community Basketball Court
The city of Bicknell, Indiana, has been awarded a $10,000 grant aimed at revitalizing a local basketball court, ensuring it meets modern standards for play and safety.
The funding, sourced from the Knox Life Committee in partnership with the Knox County Indiana Economic Development Corporation, will cover a comprehensive overhaul that includes resurfacing the playing surface, repainting the court markings, and installing upgraded electrical systems to bring back nighttime illumination.
Mayor Thomas Estabrook emphasized that the existing facility had fallen into disrepair, noting that a full renovation was long overdue to provide a safe and inviting space for residents.
Tim Smith, chairman of the Knox Life Committee, highlighted that the improvements are designed to create a welcoming environment for people of all ages, encouraging healthy recreation and community engagement.
Once the work is completed, the court will be opened to the public, allowing families, youth leagues, and casual players to enjoy the newly upgraded venue both day and night.
