A New Chapter for the Big Sky
The Big Sky Conference has released its 2026‑27 men’s basketball slate, a schedule that pits eleven full‑time members against one another in a 20‑game double round‑robin.
Each team will travel and host an equal number of conference contests, ensuring a balanced slate that stretches from early December through March.
Expanding the Field
The upcoming season also marks a pivotal expansion, as the league will grow to 22 programs in 2027, prompting a revamped tournament that will span six days and feature twenty games.
Idaho Vandals enter the campaign as the reigning tournament champions, while Portland State Vikings captured last year’s regular‑season crown, setting the stage for a much‑anticipated showdown on December 5.
Rivalry Renewed
The championship weekend will be staged at Boise’s Idaho Central Arena, where the top ten and eleven seeds will meet on Friday night to kick off a series of high‑stakes matchups.
Beyond the traditional conference tournament, the league will host Starch Madness, a multi‑day celebration scheduled for March 5‑10, 2027, adding a festive backdrop to the final push.
League play officially begins in December and will culminate in March, with each program navigating a rigorous home‑and‑away format that tests depth and resilience.
