Big West Honor Roll Highlights Academic Achievements of 327 Student‑Athletes

UC Santa Barbara tops the list, with track and field leading the way

The Big West Conference recently unveiled its Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the 2025‑2026 academic year, spotlighting 327 student‑athletes who have excelled both in competition and in the classroom.

UC Santa Barbara contributed the second‑largest share of those honorees, trailing only the conference’s top program, and its Gaucho athletes accounted for a substantial portion of the recognition.

Celebrating Academic Excellence

Among the university’s teams, the men’s track and field squad led the way with 35 athletes earning a spot on the list, while the baseball and women’s soccer squads followed with 34 and 30 honorees respectively.

The honor roll is divided into three GPA categories — Honor Roll (3.00‑3.20), With Honors (3.21‑3.50), and Highest Honors (3.51‑4.00) — to acknowledge varying levels of academic achievement.

Overall, seven of UCSB’s programs placed at least twenty of their student‑athletes on the roll, underscoring a campus‑wide culture that values scholarly performance as much as athletic success.

The roster of recognized sports is diverse, encompassing everything from baseball and basketball to water polo, tennis, swimming and more, reflecting the conference’s broad‑based commitment to developing well‑rounded student‑athletes.
