The Biggest Little Baseball Museum in Three Oaks, Michigan, is set to spotlight two distinct baseball‑related events this week, each drawing on the sport’s colorful past.
On Wednesday, August 19, the museum will convene the Southwestern Michigan Chapter of the Eddie Gaedel Society for an annual meeting that commemorates the 3‑foot‑7‑inch player who briefly appeared in a Major League game in 1951 as a promotional stunt by St. Louis Browns owner Bill Veeck.
A Dual Celebration of Past and Present
Baseball author Brian Johnston will deliver a presentation titled “The Bird: Mark Fidrych and the Summer of 1976,” marking the 50th anniversary of Fidrych’s iconic rookie season, followed by a social hour with complimentary hot dogs and chips.
The gathering will also provide an opportunity for attendees to share memories and trivia about baseball history, reinforcing the museum’s role as a gathering place for enthusiasts of all ages.
On Saturday, August 22, Chicago Cubs broadcaster Alex Cohen will make a free public appearance at the Three Oaks Township Public Library, where he will discuss his broadcasting career, the Cubs’ current season, and the MLB playoff picture.
Cohen’s talk will include a Q&A session, photo and autograph opportunities, and a chance for fans to engage directly with the voice that brings the Cubs’ games to listeners across the region.
