Griffin’s Masterclass
Binghamton University’s baseball squad delivered a commanding 3-0 win against UMass Lowell on Tuesday, advancing in the America East tournament and securing the team’s first shutout since 2014.
Conner Griffin anchored the effort, tossing five consecutive scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out four batters and limiting the River Hawks to a .125 batting average.
The offense struck early, plating all three runs in the first three innings; Zack Kent went 2-for-4 and five other Bearcats added singles to the hit column.
Relief work was shared by junior Jake Dally and sophomore Aiden Milburn, who combined for 2.2 shutout frames, while the lineup also featured Tommy Popoff, Steven Kraus, Mike Stellrecht, Braylen Gonzalez, Zach Anderson and Matt Bolton, each contributing a hit.
With the victory, Binghamton now awaits the winner of the UMBC-Maine matchup, setting up a potential clash that could shape the conference’s postseason picture.
