A demanding road start
Binghamton University’s men’s basketball program has released its 2026‑27 non‑conference schedule, a 15‑game lineup that opens with a road contest against a Power 4 opponent on November 2. The early slate is heavily weighted toward away games, with eleven of the fifteen contests slated for opponents’ venues.
The Bearcats will play their first home game at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena on November 8, hosting Rider University for the first time. The arena, currently undergoing a $10 million renovation, is expected to reopen for full use in January, after which the team will enjoy a series of home dates before the postseason.
Notable opponents and series
Duquesne University, an Atlantic 10 quarterfinalist that posted 18 wins last season, visits on November 14, marking the seventh meeting between the programs separated by 77 miles. A week later, Syracuse University, an Atlantic Coast Conference member, travels to Binghamton for a December 22 showdown, the latest chapter in a series that spans nearly eight decades.
The schedule also includes matchups with Rider, Army, Saint Peter’s College and Fairfield University as part of the America East‑Metro Basketball Challenge, while Lehigh University and Le Moyne College represent the Patriot League contingent. Each of these games adds regional flavor and provides opportunities for early‑season testing.
Conference rhythm and postseason path
Eight of the Bearcats’ America East games will be played at home, mirroring an equal split on the road, before the team shifts focus to the conference tournament in early March. The balanced home‑away distribution reflects the program’s strategy to maintain momentum heading into the postseason.
