The North Dakota State Bison opened their 2026 soccer campaign on a chilly evening at Dacotah Field, only to see their hopes dashed by a disciplined Green Bay squad.
First Half Tension
Green Bay struck early in the 12th minute when Senah Hanes rose to meet Ava Nielsen’s corner and headed the ball past NDSU’s defense, putting the visitors ahead 1-0.
NDSU’s goalkeeper Payton Mulberry kept the score level with a flurry of saves, including a crucial stop on Amber Smith’s 43rd‑minute attempt that had rattled the crossbar.
Second Half Surge
The Bison’s offense struggled to generate chances, managing just a single shot on target for the entire match. Green Bay, however, doubled their lead in the second half as Hanes found the net again before Laney Stark added a third in the 54th minute.
Despite the deficit, Mulberry finished with six saves, but the Bison’s 11‑3 shot disadvantage underscored the gap in attacking firepower.
Looking ahead, NDSU will host Marquette at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, at the same venue, hoping to rebound from the early setback.
