Saturday's Baseball Action Across Blair County
Three local baseball tournaments are set to open their brackets this Saturday, bringing together youth leagues and American Legion squads from across Blair County. The schedule promises a full day of competition on fields that have nurtured talent for decades.
In Hollidaysburg, the host tournament will feature a quartet of teams — Hollidaysburg, State College, East Pennsboro and West Suburban — with a storied rivalry between Hollidaysburg and State College in Section 4 adding extra spice to the matchups.
The winner of that bracket will earn a spot in the Pennsylvania Little League State Tournament held in Pittston, a prestigious event that draws the best amateur teams from across the Commonwealth.
Meanwhile, Claysburg will host the Region 7 Legion Tournament for the second time in three years, with Bushy Run entering as the defending champion of the last two Region 7 Tournaments and the 2025 Pennsylvania Legion state titleholders.
The Kia Courtesy Little World Series in Altoona will showcase twelve teams drawn from five area youth baseball leagues, including the reigning champion Greenwood Meadows of the East End Youth League.
The double‑elimination format in Altoona will culminate on Saturday, July 25, when the championship game decides which squad advances to the Pennsylvania state tournament in Williamsport.
State Tournament Pathways
Both the Pennsylvania Little League State Tournament in Pittston and the Williamsport state event serve as gateways to the national Little League World Series, giving these local teams a chance to test themselves against the best.
Local organizers from the Hollidaysburg Area Summer Baseball League, Pennsylvania Little League, Claysburg Legion Post 522 and the Altoona Independent Youth Baseball League have coordinated logistics, ensuring that officials, volunteers and fans alike can focus on the competition.
