A Strategic Recruit for the Beavers
Former University of Florida outfielder Blake Brookins has officially committed to Oregon State for the 2027 season, adding a potent left‑handed bat to the Beavers' outfield.
Standing at 6‑foot‑5 and 230 pounds, Brookins brings a rare combination of size and power. Though he saw limited action with the Gators, his recent stint in the Coastal Plains League has showcased his capabilities, batting .417 with a 1.274 OPS across 58 plate appearances.
During his sophomore year at Florida in 2025, he recorded three hits, including a pair of doubles, in just 10 at‑bats. The following summer, he compiled eight extra‑base hits — three doubles and five home runs — while leading his team in OPS.
A native of Palmetto Bay, Florida, Brookins was previously ranked No. 38 among outfielders and No. 210 nationally by Perfect Game in 2023. His addition provides depth and a left‑handed threat that Oregon State hopes will translate into more runs.
The Beavers' coaching staff expressed enthusiasm about the signing, noting that Brookins' power profile complements the existing lineup and bolsters outfield options as the program looks ahead to the 2027 campaign.
