Blake Frazier, a 6‑foot‑6, 295‑pound redshirt sophomore, is emerging as the leading candidate to protect Michigan’s left edge.
The son of former Wolverines lineman Steve Frazier, he grew up in the suburbs of Austin, Texas, before arriving in Ann Arbor with a reputation as a four‑star prospect.
Heritage and Early Promise
Steve Frazier anchored the line in the early 1990s, a period that culminated in a national championship, giving the younger Frazier a direct link to a storied program.
Ranked No. 169 nationally by 247Sports, Blake attracted offers from powerhouses such as Clemson, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State and Texas before committing to Michigan in April 2023.
After a redshirt year in 2024 in which he did not see game action, he appeared in all 13 contests in 2025, starting eight of them, and earned Academic All‑Big Ten honors.
Now listed at 6‑foot‑6 and 295 pounds, Frazier combines size with surprising agility, a combination that has impressed coaches and teammates alike.
The offensive line room is crowded with talent, including Andrew Babalola, Malakai Lee and Marky Walbridge, but Frazier is slated to enter fall camp as the frontrunner for the left‑tackle spot.
Coaches have praised his work ethic in the weight room and his ability to move fluidly for a player of his stature, traits that could translate into immediate impact against opponents such as Western Michigan on September 5.
While the starting role has not been officially confirmed, the expectation is that Frazier will be a cornerstone of the line for the foreseeable future, giving the Wolverines a promising foundation as they look ahead to the next season.
