Blake Jenkins Commits to Michigan Wolverines

Four-star cornerback from Katy, Texas, chooses Michigan over Alabama, Texas, SMU and Vanderbilt, citing city support and a new coaching staff

Blake Jenkins, a four-star cornerback from Katy, Texas, announced his commitment to the University of Michigan on Wednesday, selecting the Wolverines over a slate that included Alabama, Texas, SMU and Vanderbilt.

The decision came after a campus visit in April that left the 6-foot-0.5, 190-pound prospect impressed by both the academic environment and the enthusiastic support from the Ann Arbor community.

Jenkins highlighted the influence of new cornerbacks coach Jernaro Gilford, who extended the offer in February, and praised the staff’s vision for his development.

Ranked No. 38 in the state and No. 260 nationally, Jenkins joins a secondary class that already features Darius Johnson and Tavares Harrington, giving Michigan three four-star defensive backs for the 2027 cycle.

Recruiting Landscape

The Wolverines also hold a legacy commitment from Charles Woodson Jr., a three-star safety, while continuing to chase five-star prospects Josh Dobson and Monsanna Torbert Jr.

Scout Gabe Brooks of 247Sports noted Jenkins’s size, athleticism and technique, emphasizing that his technique will be a key factor as he transitions to the collegiate game.

Analyst Steve Wiltfong added that the commitment reflects Michigan’s growing momentum in the Midwest and Southern recruiting pipelines.
