A fire erupted Tuesday afternoon at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, a historic venue that once served as the home of NASCAR events in the city.

Emergency crews were dispatched after calls began arriving around 3:45 p.m., and by roughly 5 p.m. the blaze had been fully contained. No injuries were reported, and the fire originated in a storage unit tucked beneath the grandstands.
Thick black smoke rose from the structure as firefighters arrived, and a partially melted plastic storage tub along with assorted debris littered the scene, leaving a stark burn mark on the wall near Section D’s entrance. The acrid odor lingered in the air long after the flames were subdued.
Investigation Underway
Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the incident, which remains undetermined at this time. Officials noted that no events were scheduled for the day of the fire, allowing crews to focus on extinguishing the flames without disruption to ongoing activities.
The speedway, long celebrated for its role in Nashville’s motorsport heritage, is slated to host the Pro Late Model 100 on June 27, an event that will test the venue’s resilience after the recent emergency.
