The Seattle FIFA World Cup 2026 Local Organizing Committee, known as SeattleFWC26, recently staged the Blind Soccer International Tournament, bringing together athletes from the United States, Kazakhstan and Peru in a celebration of ability and inclusion.
Held at Interbay Stadium in Seattle’s vibrant Ballard neighborhood over May 23‑24, 2026, the competition featured a series of high‑intensity matches that not only entertained but also served as a crucial qualifier for the upcoming Paralympic Games.
Kazakhstan emerged as champions after a tightly contested final, a result that secures its spot in the Paralympic qualification pathway for both Kazakhstan and Peru, while the United States, as host of the LA28 Paralympic Games, has already secured its place.
Elevating Adaptive Soccer in the Pacific Northwest
Beyond the scores, the event was designed to foster community engagement, offering exhibition matches, workshops and educational sessions that aim to raise awareness and create pathways for adaptive athletes across Washington State.

Sam Zisette, co‑founder and president of Ballard FC and Salmon Bay FC, expressed excitement about hosting the event, stating that growing the sport locally will inspire the next generation of adaptive athletes in the Pacific Northwest.
