A Late Strike Proves Costly
Blinn College’s men’s soccer team traveled to Hot Springs, Arkansas, for a non‑region match against National Park College, only to see a 73rd‑minute goal decide the game.
Sophomore goalkeeper Samir Bristol, who entered the match with a 6‑0‑0 record, was unable to keep the ball out of the net, marking his first collegiate loss and leaving him at 6‑1‑0 overall.
Despite outshooting their opponents 14 to 6, including six shots on target, the Buccaneers could not find an equalizer, a fact highlighted by head coach Michael McBride, who stressed the importance of controlling what the team can control.
The next challenge arrives on August 28, when Blinn faces No. 5 Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas, at 2 p.m., a contest that could prove pivotal in their Region 14 campaign.
