Reviving the Blue Darters Youth Camp
After a six‑year hiatus, Coach Scott Garland has resurrected the Apopka High School baseball youth summer camp, opening its doors to children between the ages of five and fourteen. The program, which last ran in 2019, spans five weeks of instruction, mentorship and pure fun, with the explicit goal of familiarizing youngsters with the Blue Darters brand and stoking early enthusiasm for the high school program.
Campers rotate through a series of stations that emphasize throwing, fielding and hitting, allowing them to practice fundamental skills under the guidance of current Blue Darters players and recent graduates. Among the volunteers are Aiden Rieli, Easton DeClue and Camron Pennock, who join Coach Garland in shaping the next generation of athletes.
Beyond technical drills, Garland stresses the importance of immersing campers in the high school environment and building relationships between the participants and the athletes they aspire to become. By bringing former players back to the field, he highlights their pivotal role in sustaining the program’s legacy.
A Summer of Growth and Teamwork
The camp culminates each week with relay races that blend competition with camaraderie, reinforcing teamwork and community spirit. These final events serve as a vivid reminder of the supportive atmosphere that the Blue Darters aim to cultivate among its youngest fans.
The camp will continue through August 5, with sessions held Monday through Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This schedule provides families with a consistent window to engage in baseball activities while still balancing summer commitments.
