Columbus Blue Jackets president Don Waddell unveiled a series of moves within the franchise’s hockey operations department, signaling a fresh direction for player development and medical support.
A strategic realignment in hockey operations
Trevor Timmins, who spent the past two seasons as assistant director of amateur scouting, will now oversee all amateur scouting efforts, while Ville Siren, a veteran scout who joined the club in 2013, expands his remit to European talent identification. Both appointments aim to sharpen the team’s ability to discover and evaluate prospects across North America and overseas.
In the medical staff, Mike Vogt, who served as head athletic trainer for 18 years, will transition to an assistant role but remains part of the medical team. The club also announced Tom Bourdon, a seasoned trainer with sixteen years of experience with the Blue Jackets’ AHL affiliates, as the new head athletic trainer, and Chris Strickland, who has been with the organization since 2008, will continue as assistant trainer and physical therapist.
The reshuffling reflects a broader effort to integrate scouting and health resources, leveraging deep‑rooted relationships within the organization and its farm teams such as the Springfield Falcons and the Cleveland Monsters. Waddell emphasized that the changes are designed to enhance player health, performance and long‑term competitiveness.
