On Saturday, August 8, Bluffton High School will host its annual alumni soccer games at Steinmetz Field, bringing together former student‑athletes for a day of competition and community spirit.
Alumni Soccer Night Returns
The boys’ match kicks off at 5:00 p.m., followed by the girls’ match at 7:00 p.m., giving alumni a chance to showcase their skills on the familiar grass.
Spectators are encouraged to wear red to support the event, adding a splash of school colors to the stands.
Just inside the main entrance, a donation collection point will gather food items for the Bluffton Food Pantry, which is specifically seeking cereal, canned fruit, canned meat, pasta, crackers, peanut butter, tuna, shampoo, body wash, toilet paper and paper towels.
In addition to the matches, the Junior class will run a bake sale to raise funds for Post Prom, further enriching the evening’s charitable purpose.
The pantry’s request reflects a growing need across the region, and the alumni games have become a focal point for mobilizing resources from former students who now live beyond the town limits.
Local businesses and volunteers have already pledged to assist with the collection and distribution of donated goods, ensuring that contributions reach families before the start of the school year.
As the sun sets over Steinmetz Field, the matches promise not only athletic excitement but also a reminder of the power of collective action, turning a simple soccer night into a catalyst for positive change in Bluffton.
