Bluffton’s 8U softball and baseball teams have both earned trips to the Diamond Youth World Series, underscoring the town’s strong youth sports development and the dedication of its young athletes.
The softball squad opened its tournament run in Laurel, Mississippi, on July 15, while the baseball side is scheduled to begin its competition on July 22, marking a staggered start for the two Bluffton teams.
Head coaches Patrick Mahoney of the softball team and Michael White of the baseball team praised the players’ hard work and highlighted the bright future for Bluffton’s emerging talent.
A Family’s Sporting Legacy
The Mahoney household fields four siblings in all‑star teams this year; Rory Mahoney, a pitcher on the baseball side, sent his sister Tenli, a catcher on the softball side, best wishes for her first three games, while Tenli reciprocated with encouragement for her brother to give his best.
Community leaders say the combined effort of coaches, families and local supporters illustrates how Bluffton is cultivating talent that could soon compete on national stages.
