A Historic Stalemate in Dallas
Boise State’s soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to 17 matches on Saturday, playing to a 0‑0 draw with SMU in Dallas. The result kept the Broncos as the only Pac‑12 program yet to taste defeat this season, improving their record to 2‑0‑1.
Goalkeeper Ava de Leest was the backbone of the effort, making three saves for her eighth career shutout. Her performance highlighted a defensive display that limited SMU to just eight shots, with Kamiya Beck opening the scoring attempt in the 13th minute and Kaylee Noble following in the 26th.
On the offensive side, Jillian Anderson led the Broncos with two shots on goal, the match‑high for either side, while midfielders Madie Donovan, Aubrey Brown and Mia Lane helped control possession. Other roster members, including Asia Lawyer, Libby Jannereth and Campbell Wilson, contributed to the team's depth.
Coach’s Pride and Disappointment
Head coach Jim Thomas expressed pride in the team's resilience but voiced disappointment that the match ended without a win. “We fought hard and kept our unbeaten streak alive, but we wanted three points,” Thomas said after the game.
Looking ahead, the Broncos will travel to Lubbock, Texas, to face Texas Tech on August 23. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. MT, and the team hopes to translate its strong home form onto the road.
