Recruiting Visit
Boise State Broncos will host Jamaal McKnight Jr., a four‑star point guard from Iowa United Prep, for an official visit from September 19 through 21. The Maryland native, currently rated No. 90 overall in the 2027 class by ESPN and No. 22 among point guards nationwide, is considering the Broncos alongside offers from Butler, California, SMU, UNLV and Virginia Tech.
McKnight’s path to this point has been marked by transfers and a standout prep career. After graduating from DeMatha Catholic High School in Washington, D.C., he moved to Long Island Lutheran High School before finishing his secondary education at Iowa United Prep, where he has drawn attention from several Power Five programs.
Roster Overhaul
Rebuilding the roster is a priority for Boise State, which lost five starters to the transfer portal and eligibility expirations. Among those departures are Javan Buchanan (West Virginia), Drew Fielder (Alabama), R.J. Keene II (NC State) and Andrew Meadow (Oregon), leaving the team with a 20‑12 record but no NCAA Tournament appearance for the second straight year.
The Broncos also see a potential addition in guard Brandon Mason Jr., a four‑star recruit who committed to Xavier last weekend. Mason, rated No. 77 overall by 247Sports, listed Boise State among his finalists along with Grand Canyon, New Mexico, Ohio and the host school.
Looking Ahead
Head coach Leon Rice is expected to lean on fifth‑year senior Ty Rodgers, a transfer from Illinois, who may miss the entire 2026‑27 season due to injury but could return in 2027‑28. With the incoming class and strategic transfers, the program aims to restore competitiveness and contend for a tournament berth in the near future.
