Booker High School Coach Carlos Woods Parts Ways Ahead of 2026 Season

After guiding the Tornadoes to the Class 3A semifinals and a 12‑2 record, Woods thanks the community as the program gears up for a new campaign.

Carlos Woods, the longtime head coach and athletic director of Booker High School’s football program, announced that he will be leaving the school just weeks before the 2026 season is set to begin.

During his tenure, Woods steered the Tornadoes to the Class 3A Florida High School Athletic Association State Football Championship semifinals, finishing the previous year with a 12‑2 record that still resonates among fans.

Woods, who previously enjoyed a successful stint with the Indianapolis Colts, including a Super Bowl victory in 2006, took the opportunity to thank the community, the families, and the players who had supported him throughout his journey.

A New Chapter for the Tornadoes

The program will open its 2026 schedule on August 21 in Sarasota, Florida, facing off against the Venice High School team in a matchup that promises fresh excitement.

A core group of veterans will return, including Kobran Waters, Jayvian Hoffmann, Tylor Morton, Keshon Campbell, Kymani Sellers, Jordan Booker, Maleek Lee, and Peyton Brewer, all of whom contributed to the team’s recent successes.

Among those standouts, Maleek Lee and Kymani Sellers distinguished themselves as dominant defenders, racking up quarterback sacks and hurries that helped shape the defense last season.
