The Bossier Phillies, the two‑time defending champions of the American Legion Baseball Mid‑South Regional, kept their title hopes alive on Saturday with a pair of convincing wins that propelled them into the championship round.
Saturday’s Double Victory
Bossier opened the day by shutting out Bryant, Arkansas, 6‑0, before cruising past Daphne, Alabama, 10‑1. The back‑to‑back victories not only avenged an earlier 5‑1 loss to Bryant but also demonstrated the team’s depth and pitching dominance.
Key contributors included pitcher Slade Stephens, who tossed a three‑hitter with four strikeouts and two walks, and former Northwood standout Landon Martin, who went 2‑for‑3 with a double and pitched a four‑hitter of his own. Nate Cervantes, a rising senior at Northwood, added a two‑run home run in the fourth inning and finished 2‑for‑4 with two RBI.
Other notable performances came from Cole Snell, Brody Turnipseed, Griffin Sibley and Bradon Stephens, each chipping in hits and RBI that stretched the lead. The offense exploded for four runs in the bottom of the second inning and added five more in the sixth, underscoring the team’s offensive firepower.
Looking Ahead to Sunday
The Phillies are now scheduled to face Tupelo, Mississippi, at 1 p.m. on Sunday, with a potential championship rematch at 4 p.m. should they win. The victor will earn a berth in the American Legion Baseball World Series, a prize the club has chased for years.
With a blend of seasoned arms and emerging bats, the defending champions appear poised to extend their run and bring another title back to Bossier.
