The Bossier Phillies erupted in a 6-0 victory over Bryant, Ark., in the American Legion Baseball mid‑South Regional, a win that keeps their tournament hopes alive and positions them among the final three teams remaining.
A Pitcher's Masterclass
Leading the mound, Benton standout Slade Stephens tossed a three‑hitter, striking out four while walking two, never allowing a run to cross the plate and preserving the shutout.
Tournament Outlook
The offense was equally relentless. Former Northwood standout Landon Martin contributed a double and went 2‑for‑3, while Cervantes, a rising senior from Northwood, delivered the decisive blow with a two‑run homer in the fourth inning that broke a scoreless tie.
Additional hits came from a host of local talents, including Cole Snell, Brody Turnipseed and Griffin Sibley, each adding a single, while Kade Bryant and Jackson Waller also recorded hits.
With the win, Bossier joins two other clubs as the final three teams in the six‑team bracket. Their next test will be the loser of the 3:30 p.m. contest between Daphn, Ala., and Tupelo, Miss., a matchup that could determine the path to the championship.
The Phillies had previously fallen 5‑1 to Bryant in the opening round, a loss they avenged with Tuesday’s shutout, underscoring the team’s resilience and determination as they chase the regional title.
