A Record Crowd Witnesses a Historic Defeat
On a crisp Friday evening in Chestnut Hill, the No. 23 Boston College baseball team saw its regular season finale slip away as the Yellow Jackets surged to a 15-2 victory over Georgia Tech. The game drew 2,828 fans to Harrington Athletics Village, marking the highest attendance ever recorded for a BC baseball contest and underscoring the growing enthusiasm for the program.
Despite the final score, the Eagles' season was defined by achievement. Boston College closed the regular slate with a program-record 36 wins, the best mark in school history, and posted a 17-13 record within the Atlantic Coast Conference — both milestones that speak to the steady progress made under head coach Mike McRae.
Georgia Tech struck first, exploding for five runs in the opening inning before Kyle Wolff answered with a bases-loaded double that plated two runs for the Eagles. The Yellow Jackets, however, pulled away in the seventh, extending their lead to the final 15-2 margin.
The loss comes just days before the Eagles travel to Charlotte, North Carolina, where they will compete in the ACC Tournament beginning May 19 at Truist Field. The tournament will serve as the next test for a team that has already etched its name into the program's annals with a historic season.
