Boston College Athletics announced this week that it would part ways with its longtime men’s basketball radio duo, Kevin Collins and Josh Maurer, ahead of the 2026‑27 season.
Collins, who spent 13 years calling Eagles games, described the dismissal as gut‑wrenching, noting that his career with the program spanned 378 broadcasts and four different athletic directors.
Maurer, who also lends his voice to Milwaukee Brewers games, has yet to comment publicly on the decision, leaving many observers to wonder about the future of the partnership.
The move was reportedly driven by first‑year head coach Luke Murray, who wants to clear out staff members tied to the previous coaching regime as he attempts to reshape the program.
Murray, a former top assistant at the University of Connecticut under Dan Hurley, was hired in March with the task of turning around a team that has posted a 184‑290 overall record and a 73‑200 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference play over the past 15 seasons.
A New Direction for the Eagles
The departures mark the end of an era that saw Collins and Maurer become familiar voices for generations of Boston College fans.
Collins often credited former staffer Mike Winn for his steadfast support, while Maurer was described by colleagues as a mentor who helped nurture younger broadcasters.
