A Fresh Start for the Eagles
Boston College’s women’s soccer team will open the 2026 season on Wednesday, welcoming Siena to Newton Soccer Field for a 4:00 p.m. showdown that marks the first of many upcoming contests.
The roster blends proven leaders with a influx of new faces, as the Eagles bring back 13 players who appeared in at least 14 games a year ago while also integrating ten newcomers, five of whom are transfers and five are freshmen.
Among the returnees, goalkeeper Olivia Shippee will again guard the net after posting a .846 save percentage and a 0.80 goals‑against average in the previous campaign, while captain Amalia Dray, who netted the sole ACC victory with a penalty kick against Syracuse, and Baylor Goldthwaite will provide leadership from the front.
Sophie Reale, the team’s top scorer from last season, returns for her second year, and the midfield will be bolstered by veterans such as Catherine Rogers, Abby Daly and Lindsey Harrington, each of whom earned all‑conference recognition in 2025.
Siena arrives with its own momentum, having finished 2025 with a 9‑5‑6 record and returning key contributors including junior midfielder Catherine Rogers and senior defender Lindsey Harrington, who helped the team record ten shutouts.
The matchup will also serve as a prelude to a Monday afternoon clash with St. John’s, scheduled for the same 4:00 p.m. kickoff, adding extra stakes to the early‑season slate.
