A Comeback for the Ages
Boston College’s women’s soccer team turned a 1-0 halftime hole into a 3-1 triumph over Cornell on Tuesday night, marking their third straight win to start the season.
The Eagles struck early in the second half, with Nicolette Kiorpes netting twice within a minute to flip the lead. Addy Kalaw’s precise pass set up the decisive goal, while Amalia Dray capped the scoring with a converted penalty in the 79th minute.
Goalie Faith Fenwick stood tall in the closing stages, making four vital saves to preserve the advantage as Cornell pressed for an equalizer. Boston College out‑shot the Big Red 18‑11 and earned ten corner kicks compared to seven.
Cornell had opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Emily Gibbons headed in a corner, but the Eagles’ relentless pressure paid off. Kiorpes’ third goal of the campaign came just two minutes after the break, igniting a surge that culminated in Dray’s penalty conversion.
The next test for the Eagles arrives on Thursday, August 27, when they travel to face Rutgers at 7 p.m. The matchup promises another early‑season showdown as Boston College looks to extend its unbeaten streak.
