The 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase will unfold in Windsor, Ontario, from July 26 through August 1, gathering top junior squads from Canada, Finland and Sweden for a high‑stakes evaluation tournament.
Spotlight on the Terriers' Rising Talent
Boston University’s sophomore forwards Carter Amico, defenseman Jack Murtagh and blue‑liner Charlie Trethewey have all received invitations, marking a significant milestone for the program.
Amico, who balanced BU commitments with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL, logged 11 points in 27 regular‑season games and contributed three goals and four assists in the Clark Cup Final, while also appearing in 18 contests for the Terriers this semester.
Murtagh suited up in 35 of 36 games last season, delivering six goals and five assists for a total of 11 points and demonstrating his reliable two‑way presence on the ice.
Trethewey recorded 10 points — one goal and nine assists — across 34 appearances on the BU blue line, highlighting his growing offensive contribution from the defensive position.
The U.S. roster also includes future Terriers Jamie Glance, Brady Knowling and Luke Schairer, with Knowling among the three members of last year’s National Junior Team expected to attend the showcase.
Beyond individual performances, the event serves as a critical proving ground for coaches as they assess talent ahead of the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship, co‑hosted by Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta.
With the showcase acting as a springboard, the Boston University contingent hopes to translate their collegiate momentum into strong showings on the international stage.
