A Championship Pedigree Arrives in Lincoln
Nebraska Athletics confirmed this week that Brad Fischer will join the Cornhuskers' women's basketball staff as an assistant coach, bringing a championship pedigree that spans more than a decade at the Division III level.
Fischer spent 14 seasons at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where he guided the Titans to back-to-back NCAA Division III Final Four appearances and amassed a 315-80 record as head coach.
Accolades and Achievements
During his tenure, he captured five Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular-season titles and five conference tournament championships, while earning multiple Coach of the Year honors, including the NCAA D-III Central Region Coach of the Year and the WBCA Region Coach of the Year.
His recruiting acumen helped shape talent pipelines that later transitioned to higher levels of play, a skill set Nebraska hopes will translate into immediate impact on the Huskers' roster.
Leadership Welcome
Current head coach Amy Williams welcomed Fischer, stating that his experience and network will strengthen the program's competitiveness and academic mission.
The addition comes alongside other recent staff moves, including the continued involvement of players such as Tandem Mays, Jessica Keller, Julian Assibey, Taylor Edwards, Marissa Kastanek and Lisa Fischer, who are expected to benefit from Fischer's expertise.
Educational Background and Career Path
Fischer holds degrees from UW-La Crosse, where he also began his coaching journey, and he previously served as an assistant at Western Wisconsin Technical College and Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School before rising through the ranks at Wisconsin-Parkside.
