Before his recent stint as an assistant, Kitchen served as a graduate assistant at Brigham Young University from 2020 to 2022, gaining valuable experience within a high‑profile program. His coaching pedigree also includes a head‑manager role at Utah Valley University and a playing career that ended with the Wolverines in 2019‑20.
Kitchen's high school coaching career was marked by a 21‑3 record and a Region 7 Championship during the 2025‑26 season at Timpview High School, where he developed the 5A Player of the Year, Dean Rueckert, who subsequently committed to Brigham Young University.
