Bradley University has named Tom Hammerton as its new general manager of basketball, a position designed to strengthen financial support for both the men’s and women’s programs.
A familiar face with a proven record
Hammerton, a Peoria native, previously served as president of the OSF HealthCare Foundation, where he grew the organization’s assets from $30 million to $400 million over 13 years. His experience in fundraising and strategic development made him a natural fit for the role.
In his new capacity, Hammerton will collaborate directly with athletics director Chris Reynolds, deputy director Brad Chandler, and the head coaches of both basketball teams. His focus will be on external engagement, revenue generation, and creating new opportunities for student‑athletes.
The appointment marks Hammerton’s second stint at Bradley. He first joined the university in 1999, holding various development roles until 2008, before returning to lead the basketball program’s financial strategy.
Looking ahead
Hammerton will officially begin his responsibilities on June 1, bringing a wealth of experience to a program that continues to compete at a high level within the Missouri Valley Conference.
