Bradly Basila Emerges as MVP in Futures Game

Congolese import’s breakout performance signals bright future for Indiana basketball

Bradly Basila, a 6‑foot‑7 forward who relocated from the Congo just sixteen months ago, was crowned MVP of the Futures Game after delivering a 23‑point, 10‑rebound performance that left spectators impressed.

From Congolese Roots to Indiana Courts

The athlete moved to the United States a year and a half ago and now stars for Chesterton High School, where as a sophomore he averaged 13.2 points and 6.0 rebounds. His rapid ascent earned him first Division I scholarship offers from Ball State and Oral Roberts in May.

Coach Marc Urban highlighted Basila’s marked improvement in shooting and rebounding, noting that the player’s work ethic has been evident in every practice. Teammate Mari Leggett echoed the sentiment, praising Basila’s relentless hustle and selfless approach on the floor.

A Supporting Cast That Shines

The Futures Game also featured standout displays from Caleb Coolman, Will Tonagel, Greg Tonagel, Charles Hardiman, Noah Washington, Karson Stoudemire, Chandon Gilbert, Quintyn Voltz, Varschon Clark and Don Bowling III, each adding his own spark to the event.

Basila himself credited his growth to the guidance of his coach and the camaraderie of teammates, saying that the collective effort helped him sharpen both his English and his game.
