A Sudden Departure
Brandon Anderson, a freshman offensive lineman who had been expected to bolster the Missouri Tigers’ front line, is no longer listed on the roster. The program announced his departure earlier this week but offered no specific reason for the move.
Anderson had signed with Missouri in December after committing in June 2025 and enrolling early in January 2026, arriving on campus ahead of the spring training session. His exit leaves the incoming freshman class with four linemen, including four‑star tackle Johnnie Jones and three‑star prospects Braylon Ellison, Khalief Canty and Brysen Wessell, all of whom had participated in spring ball.
Recruiting Context
The recruiting profile of Anderson, a three‑star prospect from Georgia, placed him among the top interior linemen in the state and nation, and he had drawn interest from several powerhouse programs such as Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and Texas A&M. His commitment had been seen as a solid addition to the Tigers’ class, underscoring the program’s ability to attract talent from the Southeast.
Head coach Eli Drinkwitz has repeatedly stressed the need to develop offensive line talent from within, a philosophy that guided the team’s recruitment strategy this cycle. In a recent interview he noted that while Anderson’s departure does not dramatically alter the short‑term outlook, it does prompt a closer look at the depth chart as the program prepares for the 2028 season when starting guards are expected to emerge.
