The NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series finally took the green flag at Chicagoland Speedway after a rainstorm forced a delay that stretched the event into the night.
When the lights finally illuminated the 1.5‑mile oval just after 10 p.m. ET on July 4, the field was already primed for a showdown, with Chase Elliott and Brandon Jones among the contenders.
A Night of Delays
What followed was a battle that stretched into overtime, where Jones executed a decisive move to pass Elliott and cross the finish line first, securing the victory.
The race marked the first NASCAR event at Chicagoland in seven years, a milestone that added extra significance to the night’s proceedings and drew a crowd eager to see the series return to the Illinois venue.
Jones’s win was his eighth career NASCAR victory and the first of the season, a result that positions him early in the championship battle and highlights the competitiveness of the field.
Rounding out the top ten were Jesse Love, Brent Crews, Austin Hill, Justin Allgaier, Taylor Gray, Sam Mayer, Cole Custer and Connor Zilisch, underscoring a deep field of talent.
