Brandon Lewis stepped into the role of head coach at Sumiton Christian Eagles in May, inheriting a program that had been forced to forfeit most of its previous season because the roster was too thin to field a full team. The Eagles’ 2025 campaign ended abruptly, leaving the school with a stark reminder of how fragile a football program can be when numbers dwindle.
Lewis is now focused on laying a foundation that can survive beyond a single year. Rather than rushing to field a varsity squad, he is constructing a junior varsity pipeline that will gradually feed talent into the senior level, ensuring that each new class has the preparation it needs to compete.
His approach is heavily influenced by his years working under Nick Saban at the University of Alabama, where discipline, accountability and attention to detail are drilled into every player. Lewis says he is bringing that same culture to Sumiton Christian, emphasizing daily habits that build a sustainable football identity.
The vision is clear: a program that can grow, thrive and remain competitive year after year, not just in moments of crisis. By starting at the junior level, the Eagles hope to develop depth organically, avoiding the cycle of roster depletion that plagued the previous season.
