A New Chapter for Xavier
Brandon Mason Jr., a four‑star prospect in the 2027 class, announced his commitment to Xavier University, bringing a blend of athletic talent and academic ambition to the program.
Ranked 77th nationally and seventh among shooting guards, Mason’s skill set aligns with Xavier’s competitive standards as the team prepares for Division I competition.
His decision to join the Musketeers is also a personal one, as he will work under former University of New Mexico head coach Richard Pitino, who now leads Xavier’s basketball revival.
Mason’s father, Brandon Mason, previously scored over 1,000 points at New Mexico State, establishing a family tradition of excellence on the court that the recruit hopes to continue.
Academic and Personal Development
Beyond the hardwood, Mason highlighted Xavier’s emphasis on academic achievement and personal growth as decisive factors in his choice, noting that the university’s environment supports holistic development.
Family support played a pivotal role, with his father managing stress and guiding his son’s trajectory, ensuring that the transition to college life is both structured and encouraging.
Looking ahead, Mason plans to compete at the Division I level, aiming to contribute immediately while continuing to refine his game under Pitino’s tutelage.
